Is kicking an attacking animal in the balls good self defense?
I know if you kick a person, like a robber in the crotch it will buy you enough time to get away. Are male animals just as sensitive down below? Can a small person who's good at soccer take down a bear with lucky a shot in the balls and get away in time? I heard playing dead is often a good idea but even bears or wolves will become scavenger if they are hungry enough and welcome any meal.
The testicles of most mammals are sensitive, but reaching them in a manner that would get the desired effect is extremely unlikely. Some mammal species have their testicles partially or completely drawn into their abdomens, particularly in cold weather, or are hidden under mounds of fur. This makes exerting enough force to hurt almost impossible. The next problem is most such animals are quadrupeds. This means when they are attacking you, their balls are in the back where you can't reach. The animal would have to be facing away from you or rearing on it's hind legs, which they usually don't do until they're biting you.
